Policies

PLEASE READ BEFORE MAKING A BOOKING

  • All Students must show their Student ID card when collecting equipment. No ID - No collection.
  • All bookings require a Risk Assessment: Activities can either be covered by the GREEN (low risk assessment) or the BLUE (standard risk assessment).
  • The GREEN form is for single use equipment only (eg. 1 x camera, 1 x recorder, 1 x light) for use on university campus or at home. This does not cover large equipment bookings.
  • BLUE Risk Assessments must be completed and sent to an academic staff member for approval. Once approved, the academic will send the form to: creativemediariskassessment@shu.ac.uk
  • Please give at least three days for academic sign off
  • Students will not be able to collect equipment without an approved Risk Assessment (if the activity is not covered by the Green RA form) Guidance is found in the useful links above.
  • You have 30 MINUTES to collect your equipment booking from your initial collection time. Failure to collect will result in your booking being cancelled
  • It is the Hirers responsibility to inform the CMC, via phone or email, if they are unable to return their booking on time due to illness or other extenuating circumstances
  • The CMC does not provide spare memory cards or storage. All Equipment comes with relevant accessories needed for purpose.
  • Students should back up their own files BEFORE returning equipment. The CMC cannot check in Equpiment without memory cards
  • Data left on memory cards is the responsibility of the user. The Creative Media Centre does not guarantee the confidentiality of data left on memory cards. To ensure the confidentiality of your data, you should format or erase the memory card before returning it to the CMC. Always make a backup of your data before formatting or erasing a memory card. This will help you to protect your data in case of accidental deletion or corruption.
