Policies

  • All Students must show their Student ID card when collecting equipment
  • Students will not be able to collect their booking without Student ID
  • All bookings require a Risk Assessment: For Low Risk Activites you may use the pre-filled Green Form
  • Please read the Green Risk Assessment and decide if this covers your activities (see useful links above) - no further action required
  • For any activities that fall outside the Green RA form you must fill out a Blue Risk Assessment form (see useful links)
  • Blue Risk Assessments must be sent to an academic staff member for approval. Once approved, the academic will send the form to: creativemediariskassessment@shu.ac.uk
  • Please leave 3 days for academic sign off
  • Students will not be able to collect equipment without an approved Risk Assessment (if the activity is not covered by the Green RA form)
  • It is the borrowers responsibility to check the equipment upon checkout to ensure all required resources have been provided, including batteries, cables and memory cards where necessary.
  • Equipment loaned from the service must not be used for commercial gain.
  • Any faults with the equipment should be reported to the CMC at time of discovery (by email or phone if appropriate)
  • Users must not loan the equipment to third parties or other students/staff
  • You have 30 MINUTES to collect your equipment booking from your initial collection time. Failure to collect will result in your booking being cancelled.
  • The Creative Media Centre does not provide spare / extra memory cards (all cameras come with either 1 or 2 memory cards depending on make / model).
  • Students should back up their own files BEFORE returning equipment. The CMC cannot check in cameras without  memory cards
  • The Creative Media Centre does not format/erase memory cards. It is the student's responsibility to format/erase memory cards BEFORE using the equipment to ensure full capacity of data storage.
  • Data left on memory cards is the responsibility of the user. The Creative Media Centre does not guarantee the confidentiality of data left on memory cards. To ensure the confidentiality of your data, you should format or erase the memory card before returning it to the CMC. Always make a backup of your data before formatting or erasing a memory card. This will help you to protect your data in case of accidental deletion or corruption.
