Bank Holiday Information

The University, including all media stores will be closed on Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th of May 2023

Degree Show Equipment Requests:-

Download the Request form from Blackboard: Here

Please email this form to CreativeMediaBookings@shu.ac.uk and make sure the subject line of your email is "Degree Show Equipment Request" plus your full name.

The Deadline Hand in Date for this form is 3rd May 2023 - Bookings will be created on connect 2 early the following week by the technical team and you should recieve an email confirmation.

The Creative Media Centre will contact you if there are any issues with your equipment bookings or if equipment is not available.

For all Degree Show bookings you must complete a Blue Risk Assessment (https://connect2.shu.ac.uk/self-help/cmcbookings/forms.html) and have your tutor agree, sign and email it to CreativeMediaRiskAssessment@shu.ac.uk, putting your name as the Subject (The tutor emailing to this inbox from their email address will act as their digital signature).

We must have received their email sign-off prior to you collecting your booking.

Upon collection of the equipment you will need to provide:
*The name of the tutor who has sent in the risk assessment
*Your SHU card.

  The Creative Media Centre, Cantor and HPO: General Information

  • Equipment loans will remain bookable up to a week in advance and you can now keep equipment for up to 8 days at a time.

 Some changes have been introduced:

  • All specialist spaces will be kept locked whilst not in use.  Please ask at the Creative Media Centre to gain entry.
  • Late night access to Computer suites: Monday – Friday 9am-9pm. (Please note the flextight will not be available after 4:30pm)
  • Late night access to the Workstation and Photo studios is available: Monday to Thursday 9am-9pm. You must book your slot on Connect 2 and will need a Risk Assessment in order to use the Workstation or Photography studios after 4:30.

Policies

  • All Students must show their Student ID card when collecting equipment
  • Students will not be able to collect their booking without Student ID
  • All bookings require a Risk Assessment: For Low Risk Activites you may use the pre-filled Green Form
  • Please read the Green Risk Assessment and decide if this covers your activities (see useful links above) - no further action required
  • For any activities that fall outside the Green RA form you must fill out a Blue Risk Assessment form (see useful links)
  • Blue Risk Assessments must be sent to an academic staff member for approval. Once approved, the academic will send the form to: creativemediariskassessment@shu.ac.uk
  • Please leave 3 days for academic sign off
  • Students will not be able to collect equipment without an approved Risk Assessment (if the activity is not covered by the Green RA form)
  • It is the borrowers responsibility to check the equipment upon checkout to ensure all required resources have been provided, including batteries, cables and memory cards where necessary.
  • Equipment loaned from the service must not be used for commercial gain.
  • Any faults with the equipment should be reported to the CMC at time of discovery (by email or phone if appropriate)
  • Users must not loan the equipment to third parties or other students/staff 
  • You have 30 MINUTES to collect your equipment booking from your initial collection time. Failure to collect will result in your booking being cancelled.
